“SHADES not riding with his POSSE that day!”

Inspiration! What can it do?

The Flowerman’s previous choice for eyeglass frames he knew he didn’t like, didn’t connect with from the moment he put them on. Having to begrudgingly live with his choice for at least the next two years according to the terms of his health care plan that covers the cost of eye care. 

One full year had passed beyond the contract date of the two year term, three years had now passed incredibly slowly, three long years of wondering when inspiration would strike.

Inspiration finally struck!

The inspiration coming from a young teenage boy who happens to ride on The Flowerman’s LOVE BUS.  As The Flowerman approaches any bus stop in the valley with this teenager waiting to board, he’s always wearing interesting eyeglasses with a reflective tint, his posse always at his side. 

6 months ago this amazing young man boarded wearing FRAMES The Flowerman thought he could wear for the next two years, he liked what he was wearing that much. 

Once boarded, seat taken in the back row of the Love Bus with his posse all around him, The Flowerman calls out “Hey ‘SHADES’, come up to the front for a minute (‘SHADES’ , The Flowerman’s nickname he uses for this cool dude). With a huge smile on ‘SHADES’ face, tinted twinkle in his eyes, The Flowerman says “SHADES those are the coolest shades yet! Where did you get them from?” ‘SHADES’ answer didn’t surprise, “Landmark Theatre, they’re used to watch 3D movies. Cool aren’t they?”

Days later, The Flowerman heard through his posse that he had saved the life of a homeless man, a man suffering from addiction, that ‘SHADES’ had administered a NALOXONE injection. Hearing this incredible story did come as a surprise, that’s an incredible act of love, a selfless act for a suffering stranger coming from a brave teenage boy. Needing confirmation The Flowerman asks two of his female posse members (‘SHADES’ not riding with his posse that day) at the LOVE BUS fare-box if the story were true. The one young teenage girl nods at The Flowerman and says “yes, I saw ‘SHADES’ do it!”

That sealed the deal!

The hunt was on!

That was more than enough to have confirmed the inspiration needed in choosing new eyeglass frames. 

The Flowerman cycled to Courtenay’s Landmark Theatre to inquire about the free 3D glasses, was offered a free packaged sample with smiles all around. E-mailing, then calling Landmark Theatre’s head office in Alberta hoping to get a part number or style number, contact the manufacturer to see if prescription lenses could be added. Sadly that’s where the dream ended. The frame used was unable to be converted into regular eyeglasses.

A visit to FYidoctors – Comox Valley –  Doctors of Optometry was next. Leaving the sample 3D movie glasses behind so they could do some research hoping to offer something close to a style of frame similar to ‘SHADES’ eyewear. The call came a few days later. 

The Flowerman has been wearing his ‘SHADES’ 3D MOVIE inspired eyeglass frames since. One pair for day/night driving his LOVE BUS, one polarized pair for driving professionally on those bright sunny days. 

The Flowerman gets so many compliments on his new eyeglasses, they also give him “a deeper sense of purpose and meaning in life” every time they’re worn. 

THAT’S WHAT INSPIRATION CAN DO!
