“What, are you trying to pull off a KLINGER?” Lol
Out of the thousands of positive comments The Flowerman
has received (not one negative) over the years operating B.C. Transit buses, what this one passenger offered last night, as his instinctual reaction seeing all the flowers worn completely encapsulated The Flowerman’s
core messages of joy tied with mental health brilliantly in just a few words. The core intent behind all he does is to show riders who board and all those outside the Transit Bus that see him operating it that mental illness, involuntary institutionalization, addiction, experiencing homelessness can all be beaten. That a truly joyous life becoming a productive member of society again is more than just possible, it’s achievable if one does the hard work, making the difficult choices along the path that leads mental wellness.

We both laughed along his entire ride on the Love Bus last night discussing the merits of our message until it was his time to disembark.
“What, are you trying to pull off a KLINGER?”
At the 4077th, KLINGER (for the much younger generations, please Google him) was endlessly trying to get himself discharged from the Army on a psychiatric discharge, or ‘Section Eight’, mainly by cross-dressing; viewers began to look forward to what new outfit he would wear next or what other ploy he would attempt.
This passenger went on to add that if “The Flowerman
played his cards right he could claim medical disability (a ‘SECTION EIGHT’) and get 80% of his wage, dressed with all the flowers maybe ask for 100%!

Get early retirement too!”
The Flowerman’s
reply!

“BUT I WANT TO WORK!” Lol
Hoping to reconnect with this Love Bus passenger again soon.
Stay tuned!
