FROM THE HUMBLEST BEGINNINGS……………
TO A PROCLAMATION 5 years later!
The only goal 5 years ago was to raise the vibe of positivity, to spread Joy & happiness, show the LOVE ❤️ to all.
From dressing up as “COVID CUPID” during the Covid pandemic on Valentine’s Day 2021 in a blizzard, trudging through heavy wet snow in a diaper.
Fast forward 5 years to Courtenay Mayor Bob Wells issuing a formal proclamation.
An eclectic mix of live music will be playing on board the Love Bus to entertain the volunteers and recipients of the LOVE.
Huge thanks to Tracey of Highland Has Heart secondary school for organizing the efforts of the students who have decorated the Love Bus for the last 3 years.
-LOVE CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS

-LOVE CAN CHANGE HEARTS
-LOVE CAN CHANGE MINDS
-LOVE CAN BRING PEACE
-LOVE CAN BRING JOY
-LOVE CAN BRING HAPPINESS
-LOVE CAN HEAL ALL WOUNDS
In order to make this 5th anniversary a huge success The Flowerman 🌻Is asking for a contribution to help cover the costs of all the red roses, specialty chocolates and pet treats given out on Valentine’s Day. Individual & Corporate donations welcome. A contribution as little as $5.00 will buy one red roses.

Proclamation Comox Valley Cupid Day
Whereas – Since 2021, Comox Valley Cupid has been fostering a sense of love and connection among the residents of the Comox Valley, spreading joy and strengthening community bonds through acts of kindness and creativity.
Whereas – Each year, The Flowerman leads a series of whimsical and heartfelt events, lovingly referred to as “shenanigans,” that inspire connection and camaraderie, proving that small gestures of love can make a big difference.
Whereas – The purchase of red roses, specialty chocolates, and pet treats is made possible through the generosity of diverse contributors, from local citizens to corporate sponsors, all of whom recognize the unique ability of this joyous tradition to brighten lives and create lasting memories.
Whereas – The charm and magic of Comox Valley Cupid Day, complete with the iconic LOVE BUS and its fearless captain dressed as Cupid—a man in a large yellow diaper adorned with flowers and a whimsical bow and arrow—brings laughter and delight to schools, seniors’ homes, fire halls, retail stores, mental health agencies, the RCMP detachment, and beyond.
Whereas – The mission of The Flowerman, Comox Valley Cupid, and his team of enthusiastic volunteers is beautifully simple: to make someone smile—a goal that is achieved every year with resounding success.
Now, therefore, I, Mayor Bob Wells, proudly proclaim February 14th, 2025, as
Comox Valley Cupid Day
In the City of Courtenay
And encourage all residents to embrace the spirit of love, kindness, and community that makes this day so extraordinary. Together, let us continue to spread joy, one smile at a time.
Signed this 23rd day of January, 2025.
Mayor Bob Wells
City of Courtenay
Stay tuned!
