CURDS FROM HERDS!
(Teachings from a world away)
Herds of buffalo that is, water buffalo of Indian descent The Flowerman has taken inspiration from to find the simplest form of culture (the cultivation of bacteria) rooted deep in Indian culture (the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group).
For many years now The Flowerman has witnessed so many of his East Indian passengers boarding his Love Bus grasping between their fingers the plastic handle of so many 4 litre jugs of homogenized milk, sometimes with other groceries but often just the milk alone. Always curious and never afraid to ask innocent questions of others, The Flowerman asks this East Indian passenger “please tell The Flowerman , what’s with all the milk?” Lol
This particular passenger was eager to explain why all the milk. The Murrah Buffalo is a vital part of Indian culture providing milk to the residents of rural villages. Many East Indian’s will traditionally drink a glass of milk before bed and make their own curd as a healthy treat to enjoy in the morning. The Flowerman was now intrigued having certainly heard of curd before, curds and whey from a childhood nursery rhyme, cheese curds on poutine and consuming whey protein himself to maintain healthy muscle mass. This passenger explained just how easy it is to make fresh curd from cow’s milk.
Last night before bed The Flowerman enjoyed a mug of warm milk to soothe his mind and a bowl of fresh chilled curd in the morning.
Thank you to my East Indian friend for the restful sleep and the delicious morning treat.
Stay tuned!
